I think the biggest accomplishment of this class was knowing that my teammates and I got our game demo done really well and though we were nervous we ended up presenting really well. The biggest struggle throughout this class was getting the action scrip to work. I think it was my biggest struggle because I would get really frustrated if it didn't work and sometimes I just didn't know what to do, but with the help of my teachers and classmates I got it done. I mostly liked seeing all of the game demos at the end because it showed that all of the hard work we did pay off. The thing that I liked least about this class was that we had to spend so much time on it and sometimes things would just not go the way you wanted them to. I would tell a new class to try not to get frustrated because everyone in the class is doing the same thing you are, so it's best to ask for help. There wasn't really just one part that I like about my game-demo because we worked really hard.

Presentation

We will be presenting our game soon and we still have a couple things to do. We still have to get our buttons working and put sound in, but I think if we continue to work hard we can get it done. I think if we practice our presentation it will be a lot of help because that way we will know what we need to say. I think my biggest concern is that I'm going to mess up on the presentation, realize we did something wrong, or if we left something out. We have made a lot of progress in the past week, so I think we are going to have everything ready to present. Adding the rest of the buttons is not going to be a big problem because we have finally learned how to get them working right. I don't think sound is going to be that hard to add either because when we watched the video on how to add it, it didn't look that hard. It has been a lot of work, but my teammates and I have been working really hard and we can't wait to see how it looks when we are done.

Demo Update 2

This week we have continued to work on our game demos. Everything is going well. We have accomplished a lot this week. We have all of our scenes done except on a couple of them we still have to get the buttons working right. Our biggest struggle is gettign the buttons to work, but I think we will figure it out soon. We have accomplished all of our goals this week by working hard and trying to get everything to work the first time we try it. Our goals for next week are to get all of the sound working on our game and that is the biggest thing we have to do. I feel like my teammates and I are doing a great job on working together and everyone is contributing equally. We are all helping with the design and picking out sound clips for the game. We have all contributed ideas on how to get the buttons to work because they haven't been working, but we usually can come up with a way to get it to work. I feel really good about our game idea because we are accomplishing a lot and we don't have very much more to go.

Presentation Update

This week we have accomplished a lot more than last week. We have added three new layers and we've gotten everything working on all of the other layers. I think our biggest struggle is the key frames because we don't know where to place them and what to put in them. I think once we get the hang of how to work the key frames everything is going to start going a lot faster and we will be ready to present soon!

Goals

This week I planned on accomplishing getting more layers put in my game demo. My team and I have been doing a good job by meeting our goals. We successfully put in more layers as planned, but we still have a lot of work to do. We accomplished this by working together and working hard. If one person didn't know how to do something someone else could always help and figure out what to do. We did not get as much done as I would have hoped, but we are finally getting the hang of how to do everything. Next week, I hope to accomplish more than we did this week. I hope to get all of our layers and scenes added in. I would also like to get our buttons and and working on every layer. I think we will get more accomplished this coming week because we know a lot more than we did earlier in the week. I hope to accomplish all of our goals for next week by continuing to work hard with my team.

Game Demo Presentation

The past two days we have been working on our game demo presentations. My team has accomplished a little bit day by day and we are trying to get things done as good as possible. I have personally accomplished getting the intro scene done and ready for our game, but I did not do it all myself, I also had the help of my teammates. The easiest thing is deciding which team members are going to be doing what. This is the easiest thing because all we have to do is look at who is good at what and then assign them that task. The hardest thing is getting everything to look and do what it is supposed to do because id one thing is out of place it could look wrong and if you type in one wrong letter in a code that could mess it all up. I think everyone on my team is contributing equally and is doing a great job to help get everything done. My plans for the rest of the week are to keep working hard with my team to get everything done and see how everything goes from there.

Working in Flash

These past two weeks we have been working in Flash on our game demo skeletons. I have learned a lot so far. I did not know much about Flash at all when I first started this. I have learned that you don't have to be able to draw very good because they already have straight lines and shapes programed in for you and those things can help you draw other things. I feel very confident about drawing in Flash because though I am not creative and cannot draw very well I'm feel comfortable doing it. The most difficult thing to do in Flash are the codes because you have to be so precise on everything and the slightest mistake can mess up the entire code. I have made a lot of progress in my game demo skeleton because I did not understand why we needed layers or frames, but as I moved on I understood better. I have not gotten my buttons to work right yet, but I have help from classmates, so I'm sure I will get it done soon!
