Goals

This week I planned on accomplishing getting more layers put in my game demo. My team and I have been doing a good job by meeting our goals. We successfully put in more layers as planned, but we still have a lot of work to do. We accomplished this by working together and working hard. If one person didn't know how to do something someone else could always help and figure out what to do. We did not get as much done as I would have hoped, but we are finally getting the hang of how to do everything. Next week, I hope to accomplish more than we did this week. I hope to get all of our layers and scenes added in. I would also like to get our buttons and and working on every layer. I think we will get more accomplished this coming week because we know a lot more than we did earlier in the week. I hope to accomplish all of our goals for next week by continuing to work hard with my team.

Game Demo Presentation

The past two days we have been working on our game demo presentations. My team has accomplished a little bit day by day and we are trying to get things done as good as possible. I have personally accomplished getting the intro scene done and ready for our game, but I did not do it all myself, I also had the help of my teammates. The easiest thing is deciding which team members are going to be doing what. This is the easiest thing because all we have to do is look at who is good at what and then assign them that task. The hardest thing is getting everything to look and do what it is supposed to do because id one thing is out of place it could look wrong and if you type in one wrong letter in a code that could mess it all up. I think everyone on my team is contributing equally and is doing a great job to help get everything done. My plans for the rest of the week are to keep working hard with my team to get everything done and see how everything goes from there.

Working in Flash

These past two weeks we have been working in Flash on our game demo skeletons. I have learned a lot so far. I did not know much about Flash at all when I first started this. I have learned that you don't have to be able to draw very good because they already have straight lines and shapes programed in for you and those things can help you draw other things. I feel very confident about drawing in Flash because though I am not creative and cannot draw very well I'm feel comfortable doing it. The most difficult thing to do in Flash are the codes because you have to be so precise on everything and the slightest mistake can mess up the entire code. I have made a lot of progress in my game demo skeleton because I did not understand why we needed layers or frames, but as I moved on I understood better. I have not gotten my buttons to work right yet, but I have help from classmates, so I'm sure I will get it done soon!

Adding Sound

Yesterday I watched videos on how to add sound to my game. I found that it was not as hard as I thought it was going to be and I think it is going to be a good addition to my game. I thought it was a little confusing at first, but as I watched the videos longer I caught on to it. I learned a lot in the adding sound tutorial because I knew basically nothing about it, so I'm glad I got to watch the tutorial. I plan on adding very fun and interesting sounds to our game to make it more fun to play and even if your answer is wrong you still get a cool sound anyway. I think sound is important to games because it make it more fun whether you are winning or loosing. I don't play very many games, but the games I occasionally play always have sound because I feel like it also gets me more into the game. The games I play are mostly Mario Brothers because they make it fun to play and they get you more into the games because of their fun and up beat sounds.

Game Demo

These past couple of days we have been working in Flash on our games. Recently we had a live session with Meredith with Flash and I learned a lot about the layers and scenes. I learned that everything must be on its own layer and I learned short cuts on how to delete and add things. It cleared a lot of things up for me on what to put in the layers and how to name them correctly. The game demo skeleton was hard at some parts, but as I started to add more layers and more scenes I got the hang of it and it got easier. I think I will be able to eventually make one on my own, but I might still have questions about some things.

Working in Flash

Yesterday I worked in Flash with my group. It went really well there was a few things that we didn't understand, but then when we got together we figured it out. We work really well together because we always asked each other what we thought about each other's scenes. Our topic is volume and we are doing really well with it. Since we've moved along in making our game in Flash I have memorized the formulas a lot better and became faster and better at solving the problem. The inspiration for our game was our other classmates and I think when all of our games are done each one of us is going to be better at the topics we focused on. I like working in Flash becqause it's a little bit of a challenge, but it's really fun and creative. I am exciting to see what our game looks like when we are finished!
